Starting March 21st 2020 (00:00 JST) following new measures and entry restrictions have been imposed for Estonian citizens by the Japanese authorities:
• suspension of visa exemption regime;
• suspending the validity of all visas issued by March 20 by Japanese Embassies or Consulates;
People arriving from Schengen countries incl Estonia are requested to stay in quarantine for 14 days at a designated location and refrain from using public transportation.
The measures have been extended until May 31st 2020.
In reference to this, we consider the following to our travel info: Estonian residents in Japan that leave the country after 2 April, including permanent residents, will have trouble returning to Japan. Consult with a Japanese embassy or the immigration office.
